The suburb of Hillcrest was originally developed in the 1940s and 1950s, providing affordable housing close to the city.
Significant redevelopment of the area began about 10 years ago and is ongoing.
The Greenacres Shopping Centre is only 500m away (southwest) and includes a Coles supermarket, St Georges Bank, Reject Shop,
Subway, bakery, coffee shop, Australia Post, pizza house, etc. The Commonwealth Bank is opposite the shopping centre.
The Windsor Gardens Shopping Centre is only 600m away (northeast) and includes a Coles supermarket, ATM and Bunnings hardware store.
There are numerous cafes, fast food outlets and restaurants within easy reach along North East Road, on foot or by bus.
Adelaide's main retail centre, Rundle Mall, is only 20 minutes away by bus.
Tea Tree Plaza is the largest shopping mall in Adelaide's north, only 20 minutes away.
